In most cases, the cracks are near the joint of the floor and the wall. Before you start using the waterproofing mix, make sure you prepare the basement wall. To waterproof your basement, you must cover these cracks in the first place.   Follow the above mentioned steps and you will be able to complete basement waterproofing all on your own.  There are several epoxy or latex waterproof mixes available in the market.   Waterproofing the wall after repairs Once you are done with repairing the holes and cracks, it is time to waterproof your walls.   Create an exit for water Even if you have repaired the fissures and cracks in the walls, the water would still be entering your walls from the same external source. The dovetail groove will retain the waterproof mix better. You will need a waterproofing mix for this purpose. 

If the crack is not major, application of a double coating of waterproof mix will serve the purpose. Remove any kind of chipped or peeled paint. Now fill in this joint with the help of a mortar mix. While in some cases, a weep pipe may be required on a temporary basis, it would be needed on a more permanent basis in other cases. If the cracks are thin cracks, then you could use a simple waterproofing mix to cover them up.
